Isaac hadn’t spent a lot of time with his middle daughter, Tammie, which is probably why she’s so well adjusted. She started with the traits Artistic and Excitable and gained Clumsy as a child. Isaac hadn’t ever seen Tammie break anything…probably because Jebidiah had upgraded most of the Kendrick furniture to ‘unbreakable’. As a teen Tammie gained the good sense of humor trait, which made her quite popular to be around.
Tammie wasn’t like Megan, who was so nasty that even Isaac skirted clear of her, or Jerin, who was a lot like his dad, or even Kellen, whose gender preference cross signals just made Isaac confused. Tammie sort of went about her own business in the Kendrick household with neither of her parents really paying that much attention to her.
As a teen, Tammie was the one who spent the most time with the twins. She was more a mother to them than Shalonda who spent most of her time in the garden or fishing in the pond. Tammie took the twins to the park, out to the Bistro, and sometimes to the movies.
Isaac was slightly ashamed that he hadn’t given them more time because as toddlers he had spent a lot of time with them, but Isaac was preoccupied with finally having become a Rock Star.
Even though he had aged into an elder, like Mick Jagger before him, Isaac didn’t want to retire. Instead he spent nights performing concerts at the stadium and the theatre. He also held autograph sessions during the day.
Isaac had to admit that signing autographs was fun. It was good to reach out to one’s fans. Not to mention the fact that it was profitable, as his publicist was always telling him.
So, Isaac hadn’t been around to help the twins out with their homework or compliment their painting skills or to exclaim over the tiny little minnows they pulled out of the pond. Luckily Tammie was there to do those things.
But because he was busy with his career, Isaac had completely missed the fact that Tammie had also met one of the Shelley boys, Desmond, that she was completely gone over.
And he also missed the fact that Desmond was a lot older than she was, so Tammie pined for him, writing Mrs. Desmond Shelley on all of her homework papers. Tammie was counting the days until she reached adulthood, so that she could convince Desmond to marry her.
But, as stated, Isaac missed all of that. If he’d known about it, he’d have been worried. Since he was getting older and Shalonda was no spring chicken (no matter how attractive Isaac found her), it was time for him to pick an heir to take over the family.
He would have chosen Jerin since the boy was so much like him. And, it would have added to the Isaac Kendrick Rock Legend since his oldest son was following in his dad’s musical footsteps. But Jerin married Angelique and the two had moved into a farmhouse near by and started a family. Their daughter, Elizabeth Kendrick, was Isaac’s first grandchild. He hoped for 5 more before he died.
Kellen would have also made a great heir being so popular and well-liked. He was family oriented, too, so Isaac would have expected lots of grand children from him. Also, Kellen was an aspiring star athlete, which wouldn’t have been a bad thing to tack onto the Isaac Kendrick Rock Legend. (Not to mention that Isaac’s sister Hannah was an athlete, too.) But Kellen moved in with Jereme and neither of the boys seemed inclined to get married. Isaac secretly hoped that Kellen was simply waiting for Farrah Houston, who was the same age as Tammie.
So, that left Isaac with his daughters to choose from. Megan, Isaac thought, probably felt that being heiress wasn’t even in question. She often acted like it was a foregone conclusion that she would inherit. But Isaac was suspicious of her nightly activities and also of those she practiced during the day.
He wasn’t so senile that he hadn’t realized the string of men leaving Megan’s room. No, Isaac wasn’t sure Megan would be right for the job. Having a slutty criminal as his heir wouldn’t add anything positive to the Isaac Kendrick Rock Legend.
Tammie was a steady girl. She had no greater aspirations than to master the writing and illustrating arts. Tammie reminded Isaac of his mother, Margie. But would she add anything to the Isaac Kendrick Rock Legend? Isaac thought not. Perhaps Tammie would stick around and help out whoever did become heir, though.
So, that left Jayne and Deanna. Isaac really needed to get to know them.
Here’s a picture of Tammie’s adult birthday:

Well, there are formatting issues here, but my computer is having issue with timing out (which is probably what’s causing the mess). Anyway, it’s viewable now and not jumbled up. I might much around with the formatting again when I figure out what’s causing the time outs.

Other than the checkerboard shirt picture, this looks good on my Mac. However, on my desktop machine, which is at much lower resolution, I lost the right third of some of the bigger pictures… thought you might want to know.
I’m curious about the drama that seems to be developing…

Thanks for letting me know about the bigger pictures. I’ll cut them down a level or two.

You know? I never knew that children could begin painting! That’s awesome to know so I can chain them…err encourage their painting even younger than teen!!
As for the story, I love the ominous *dun dun dun* at the end of the chapter. You are so talented balancing the drama and comedy. Great chapter.
